Popular YouTube animator, DeepBlueInk, set to launch a new star-studded indie series ‘Deep Space Discounts’.

The UK-based animator, who goes by the online pseudonym ‘DeepBlueInk’, is launching a self-funded independent animation series after quitting his office job during the COVID-19 pandemic. He has since grown a fanbase of more than 185,000 followers and is achieving more than 1.5 million views on a monthly basis. 

The new indie animated show will be launched on January 3rd 2025 and stars Cat Protano (Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh), Jenny Yokobori (The Simpsons, Delicious in Dungeon), Brian David Gilbert (Adventure Time, Dropout), Barrett Leddy (Hero Inside, Drawfee), Kieran Regan (Good Night World, Genshin Impact), Marissa Lenti (The Amazing Digital Circus, RWBY) and Arin Hanson (The Owl House, Game Grumps).

The titular Deep Space Discounts is a space-sailing superstore run by a group of extraterrestrial misfits, each paying off their life sentences through mind-numbing retail work. We follow Immy, the store’s first ever human inmate, who must adapt to her new life amongst criminals, aliens and dissatisfied customers.

DeepBlueInk, creator of Deep Space Discounts said: “It’s a dream come true to finally see the response to this project, that’s been so long in the making. Creating this whole world from scratch has been such an exciting process and being able to work the comedy and ‘heart’ into every nook of the show has created something really special.” 

“This started off as a personal project but became so much more than that once I’d established the cast of voice actors in the show. They’ve brought so much to each of their roles and these are legitimately some of my comic role models, so to be able to work with them is an absolute honour.”

Thanks to a short contract with Dropout (previously CollegeHumor) creating Dimension 20 animations, DeepBlueInk was able to leave his job in recruitment behind and take the plunge into a full-time career in animation. DeepBlueInk has an instantly recognisable art style and has cultivated his following by working with well-known internet shows, podcasts and musicians, including Dropout, Drawfee, MBMBaM and Bug Hunter.

Deep Space Discounts will be available to watch exclusively on YouTube with episodes released weekly over the course of January 2025.
